Homework Assistance Program - The Clubs offer a daily, after-school Homework Assistance Program for students in grades 1-9. The goal of this program is to reinforce skills learned at school. This highly structured program is split into three different levels: 1st through 3rd grades, 4th and 5th grades, and 6th through 9th grades. Each level is led by a Club Director who is in frequent contact with participants’ teachers, school administrators, and parent(s). Volunteers are available daily to provide guidance and assistance with completing assignments.

The focus of the program is on enhancing students’ organizational and study skills to ensure success. A contract is required for program participation.

Monday through Thursday, after school, the Clubs provide a homework assistance program from 3:30 - 6:00 p.m. With the help of volunteers and a Homework Room Coordinator, we provide a quality homework program for children in first grade and up. In addition to daily homework assignments, children will study for upcoming tests and complete learning activities each day. Parents must check homework with their child each night.

Homework will not be done at the Clubs on Fridays and religion homework is to be done at home. All homework room members will be required to participate in our SMART Moves program. SMART Moves will take place on Fridays from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. and is mandatory for all members. Check out all the SMART programs!

It is a requirement of the program for members to attend the Homework Assistance Program Monday through Friday for the entire school year. Therefore, attendance is taken and rewards and incentives are given to those dedicated to the program. Unexcused absences will be cause for dismissal from the program.

Parents must pre-register children for this program by reading and signing a Homework Assistance Program packet and contract for the year. More information will be available at registration. Parents are also required to attend a mandatory meeting at the start of this program. You must come to the Club of your choice to register. Spots in the program are not given until all of the required paperwork is completed and returned. Spots will not be held open in anticipation of completed paperwork. No exceptions will be made due to the limited number of spots in the program available.

This program is free to members and is open to a limited number.

Formally evaluated by Columbia University, Project Learn has been proven to boost the academic performance of Club members.

Power Hour - A comprehensive homework help and tutoring program, POWER HOUR is designed to raise the academic proficiency of Club members ages 6 - 12. POWER HOUR is sponsored by The JC Penney After-School Fund.

Goals for Graduation - Goals for Graduation, sponsored by The JC Penney After-School Fund, introduces Club members ages 6 - 15 to the concept of academic goal setting. During one-on-one sessions with Club professionals, members set achievable "Know-I-Can" goals, more challenging "Think-I-Can" goals and yearly "Believe-I-Can" goals. They then create action plans. The program provides for recognition of members’ achievements at every step of the journey.
