Meet Holly!

Wissahickon Valley is excited to have partnered with the sweetest reading buddy around. She is patient, happy-go-lucky, friendly and is adorned with long blonde hair. She is Holly the Therapy Dog!

Holly is an 8 year old Golden Retriever who comes to read with our students on Fridays. She and the kids are becoming more and more in tune with each other. Holly helps take some of the nerves away from reading aloud as well as provide a distraction when we need a break from a good book. Some of Holly’s favorite books happen to be the same as our student’s! These include, Hop on Pop, Henry and Mudge and Where the Sidewalk Ends.

We are thrilled to have Holly (and Ms. Anne) as a part of our WV family!

A Big ‘Thank You’ from WV!

As the 2018 holiday season becomes a memory and the days continue to darken early, we are taking time to reflect on all of the love that was shared last month!

Wissahickon Valley would like to extend our deepest gratitude to those community and family members who so willingly donated clothes, toys, other necessities and their precious time during the holiday season! With your help, our club members were able to experience all of the joy and happiness that comes with Christmas time.

From our magical reindeer and Santa Clause visits to Ms. Robyn’s cookie decorating extravaganza, our kids felt all the love that the community sent. We appreciate your help in providing positive and memorable holiday experiences for our special group of club members!

We hope you feel the love too… happy 2019!

A Holiday Message from Bob

Merry Christmas!

The past 5 weeks are always a crazy time at our Clubs, as the year comes to an end and with Christmas just days away……2018 has again restored my FAITH. We have been inspired by the amazing generosity that comes from the communities we serve! I know you are well aware that some of the children we serve live difficult lives, and while we focus on serving children….December allows us the opportunity to help the “ENTIRE” family. Most of our families face a daily struggle for just the basic necessities. Due to the outpouring of support this year we have been able to change this “ Christmas Season” for hundreds of children and their families. We feel BLESSED and HUMBLED to play a part in helping in the effort to get these items into the homes that need them the most, we have been able to provide :
-Dinner with Santa
-Live Reindeer with Santa
-Holiday Parties at all locations
-Clothes-coats-socks-underwear-shoes-boots-sneakers
-Gift cards
-Towels-sheets-blankets-comforters-pillows- beds-cribs
-Bikes- toys
– Boxes of Love- which is a box filled with enough food for the Christmas Season and then some, including a turkey or ham

All of this comes to us from all corners of our communities….churches, businesses, individuals, service groups and organizations…….so many that if I start naming them I will forget someone….I know myself that well ! This is a CLEAR MESSAGE……that so many of you care about those less fortunate in our communities.

SO THANK YOU !! For whatever part you have played in helping us to make this Christmas a special time for our children and their families. We LIVE our MISSION all 12 months of the year…….but each DECEMBER is always a memorable time for our Boys & Girls Clubs. We send our heartfelt thanks to you and your family for a wonderful Christmas Season and our hope for a great 2019 filled with the best life has to offer!

God Bless us each and every one.
